Three tips to keep your dog happy

1. Go for walks regularly
Dogs need exercise. They need to be taken out for long walks and not the five or ten minute walks around the block that most people these days are used to. They need a good solid forty five minutes or more each day to get their necessary amount of exercise.
Not only does going for a nice long walk each day give your dog exercise but it also strengthens the bond between human and dog. In particular, it helps strengthen the relationship between you and your wonderful companion which allows your dog to be much happier with his position in life with you as his leader.
2. Give your dog attention
In a Dog - Human relationship, you need to remember that in your dog's eyes, you are part of his pack. And if you have a healthy relationship with your dog then not only are you a member of his pack, you are also his leader. In order for your dog to be happy, he needs to know that you are a good pack leader.
Being a good pack leader involves making your dog feel comfortable and loved as a prominent member of your pack. Giving your dog individual attention will allow your pet to feel as if he is important, and valued.
3. Make sure your dog eats well
Commercial dog food manufacturing is big business, and one which has far less stringent regulations then the "human" food industry. As such, you need to be aware of what sorts of things your dog is eating and how those things are being manufactured.
There is a lot of information about manufactured dog food available online, make sure that you do your research so that your dog is getting the food and nutrients that are needed. An alternative to manufactured food which has been growing in popularity is to make your own homemade dog food. This is a more time consuming process but ultimately is much healthier for your beloved dog. ( by Jonathan Heath )
