Puppy Training And Fun - Striking The Right Balance

Puppy Training And Fun? Yep! Puppy training is fun and NO! I am not going to tell you some psychological thing like if you make think it's fun it would be. Nay! I am going to show you the exact same way that thousands have used timelessly to make puppy training fun and enjoyable.
In this article, I'll start off by telling you a prime basic structure - If you want your puppy to be trained, you'll surely need to take care that your puppy is happy, that it feels safe and secure and most importantly, feels at home with you. This surely doesn't mean it should be tampered. Just, the basic level of love and admiration.
Now, if you are to train your puppy, the only hurdle would be it's feelings towards you. If it loves you and adores you, obviously, puppy training would become damn simple.
Conversly, if you are going to be a Bush in its eyes (sorry, no pun intended), puppy training would be just impossible. Hence, it is extremely important that in the first few months -- training or no training -- you are to become it's closest one.
Puppy training is a long-term process. If you are to go and get a book that shouts "Puppy Training In 2 Weeks", I'll definitely suggest you back off. It just ain't gonna happen. On the other hand you could go in for a long step-by-step course on puppy training and get the benefits well.
You must be knowing that starting off well is a surefire method to attain success. Now, it applies well even in the case of puppy training. If you are to be haphazard and zigzag in your day-to-day activities regarding your puppy, and not induce an orderliness in your puppy's life, then you can sure as well expect failure. On the other hand, if you are going to do certain things that I am going to outline below to maintain a level of orderliness and rhythm, then you are on the right track.
Bare Minimum Requirements To Start Off Well
Basic Needs
Just as you and me, your puppy would definitely require a water bowl, food bowl and some place to sleep. Now, if you thought you could be lenient and lathargic in cleanliness, I must warn you before hand. We would definitely want a clean water bowl and food bowl and a clean place to sleep. Your puppy would just expect the same - without any compromise. And it's always a must in your list. Clean bowls, clean places.
Some would laugh at the above statement, but it has been observed to create a psychological impact on the puppy. That's the same reason why people who try to domesticize an old dog fail miserably in keeping it under check, while people who start from the puppy do really well in bringing up a decent, civilized dog!
Exercise And Play
Puppies do need some exercise. It is more than necessary. It's mandatory. For any hale and healthy puppy, exercise is definitely necessary. And for the same reason, your puppy too, needs it. You would definitely want to take your puppy for a walk (early morning or dusk) atleast once a day. You might even take some plastic desposible bags with you. Leash and a collar would be required definitely as it's just a puppy!
I'll talk about puppy walks in my other article, but to say the least, take your puppy for a walk when the sun isn't scorching hard down the road/garden. Let the weather be pleasant and mildly warm. For this reason, early morning (in tropics) and dusk would be the best times.
A game of fetch would be sufficient to add to your puppy's routine. This would keep your puppy in tune and time. Moreover, it would mean a lot to your puppy - you give some of your time to take care of your puppy. This would get converted into love and affection in your puppy's terms.
Health
Now, this is extremely important and I cannot say enough to stress its importance. All I can say, rather, is take your puppy to the vet twice a month. No, this is not a joke. Some of my friends cared less and the result was tragic. Remember, this would pay off well at a later stage.
Regarding vets, be sure NOT to change the vet frequently other than for any genuine reason.
I would better end this monster-article right here, so it's time to say good-bye. But, remember, these are the best basic amenities that would put you and your puppy training efforts on the right track. ( by Chandrashekar Rao )
